Since 1896, we have been finding homes for West Virginia’s children—and the need for our services has never been greater. At this moment, there are more families in crisis and more kids in need of safe and stable homes than ever before. With your help, we have the tools to care for every child—to make sure they have a safe place to rest their head at night and a family eager to greet them when they climb out of bed in the morning. Bringing all of these pieces together is not a simple task. It takes a village, a lot of heart, and some big imagination. Learn More A Century of Lifetime Families During the 2022 - 2023 fiscal year 15,943 children were served. 142 adoptions were celebrated. 570 children were provided foster care. 481 children were provided emergency shelter care. Across the state, in every community. With 13 primary offices and 28 physical locations, there are many ways to connect with us. Having biological children was not an option for us, but we loved the idea of adoption. The Children’s Home Society helped us welcome our daughter home and turn a once-empty nursery into a space filled with love and laughter. A dream is now a reality, a couple now a family. My husband and I couldn’t imagine not adopting—it’s the best thing we ever did. Everyone wins with adoption, and it’s that simple. Our children became family the day they entered our home. Without the opportunity of adoption, my life would be missing two miracles. Being a foster parent is one of the most fulfilling things you can do. We talk so often about giving back to the community or to a cause, but what better way to do that than by giving a child a home and a family? Fostering is giving to the future, a child’s future.
